Tomorrow, DC comics will be unleashing Dick Grayson in Gotham once again, thanks to the 'Nightwing: Rebirth' comic. That's right, Nightwing is coming back to work with Batman and this time, he's going international.
For a while, Dick Grayson was working as a spy called Agent 37 with the secret organization Spyral, but in Rebirth, he's back in Gotham City looking to return to his way of life, no matter how conflicted he is.
Unfortunately, Grayson will only be Nightwing in Gotham for a shortwhile before a new evil uproots him once again and makes him "Batman's international strike force." According to writer Tim Seeley (in an interview with GameSpot), Rebirth will be focusing on a few key items:
We'll use aspects of what we did in Grayson that worked really well [in previous comics]. One of the things we established that I really liked was the idea that Dick grew up as a gypsy circus performer and didn't have a home base. He's really well-suited to the globe-trotting stuff. He's going to be based out of Gotham in the first part of the story, but we'll see he's acting as Batman's international strike force of one. I think we did a lot of cool storylines with beautiful scenery, but he's back working for the interests of Batman in the beginning of the story.
Will Rebirth have Grayson abandoning everything from previous comics? Not quite, says Seeley.
That's one of the things we didn't want to abandon when we startedNightwing: those relationships to those characters and how they help define Dick as a character. We'll see Tiger more. With the world of espionage and Dick being able to work for or against those guys, it would be a waste not to use them.
Looks like we are in for a treat when the comic releases tomorrow.
