Nintendo announces mobile Mario Kart game

Nintendo is bringing the iconic Mario Kart franchise to your fingertips at some point before March 2019. Nintendo has not yet released the details on Mario Kart Tour, other than the vague release window. The game is currently in development.

Nintendo has seen some success with their expansion into mobile games. Super Mario Run was downloaded 200 million times across the world and Nintendo’s more recent release, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, saw 15 million downloads in one week.

Not much is known about Mario Kart Tour. It’s unclear if the game will act like Super Mario Run, where players need to pay to have full access to the game or if microtransactions will be available for currency, like in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

Nintendo will likely announce more details on the upcoming game as the release date approaches.
