Nintendo confirms that the Wii U is ending production

Nintendo has finally confirmed that the Wii U is preparing to meet it end, after initially denying the rumor from earlier this month.

The announcement came via Nintendo’s official Japanese site (via Kotaku). Below the images of the two Wii U consoles currently in production in Japan, it was noted that “Production is scheduled to end soon,” specifically "within Japan."

It's unclear how this will affect the West.

Earlier in the month, a rumor began making rounds that the Wii U would be ending production this month. It was rumored earlier this year that Nintendo would end the Wii U's production cycle sometime this year and at the time of the first rumor, Nintendo denied that the Wii U would be seeing its end so soon.
