Nintendo considering early access program for Wii U

Gaming giant Nintendo is pondering an early access scheme for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Early access is a program that has been adopted on PC for some time but more recently on Xbox One, with the arrival of Xbox Game Preview.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, early access allows consumers to play a game while it is still under development, sampling the content at an early stage.

Nintendo of America's Damon Baker recently responded to suggestions that the company are set to launch a similiar programme. Talking to Polygon he said: "We don't have anything to announce, but I can say that we're certainly exploring options and capabilities."

"So anything is possible. I guess the important part of it is we're very conscious of it and definitely looking at it" he added.

Baker made it clear that he had some reservations about asking consumers to pay for games that aren't quite finished.
"There could be some benefits there. I think it's a very sensitive topic, because you wouldn't ever want to ask for money for something that doesn't become fully-realised" he said.
