Nintendo plans to maintain pace of game releases going into 2018

Earlier this year, gaming giant Nintendo recovered from a lackluster generation with the release of the Nintendo Switch, a hybrid between a console and a handheld device. Gamers loved the concept and the release of high-quality games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild helped prove that Nintendo was back on their A-Game.

For the first few months, the console was fairly dry in terms of substantial new AAA games but as the year comes to a close, it's almost impossible to keep up with all of the games coming to the system. EA developed a version of FIFA 18 custom made for the console, 2K ported over the newest entry in their acclaimed NBA 2K series, Rockstar Games has remastered 2011's L.A. Noire for current-gen consoles and Switch, and Bethesda will be pushing out two critically acclaimed titles in the form of Doom and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Oh, and there's a brand new Mario game that is being hailed as a masterpiece by critics.

The console has achieved great success in the form of developer support and impressive sales and Nintendo plans to keep it up going into the new year. Speaking to 4Gamer, Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi confirmed that the company will continue to maintain a steady stream of games throughout 2018 to keep players actively engaged with the system.

While most 2018 games don't have hard dates, we can expect the highly regarded Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus to come to the console with other titles like Payday 2 and various Nintendo Switch exclusives. There is also room for other games like Metroid Prime 4 and No More Heroes 2 to slip into 2018 or maybe an early 2019 release but it's too soon to tell right now.
