Nintendo: Pokemon Sun and Moon sales are 85% better than X&Y’s

That's definitely an improvement...

By now Pokemon Sun and Moon need no introduction. After setting sales records in the UK Market, Nintendo revealed today that they have become the fastest selling games in the Americas in the company's history. In an official press release that was sent out today, the company revealed that 3.7 million copies of the games have shipped to date.

According to their data, that is an 85% increase (in the same time frame) over the previous generation, X&Y, which released back in 2013.

Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Doug Bowser had this to say:

"With these huge sales figures, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have proved themselves as two of the hottest video games to buy this holiday season. With great reviews and outstanding fan response, these next iterations in the Pokémon series are sure to please any player in the family."

In total, every single Pokemon game to date has shipped a combined 280 million units worldwide, since the original launch of Pokemon Red and Blue in 1996. Suffice it to say; Pokemon is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Pokemon Sun and Moon may not be done yet either. Rumors are currently going around about a potential release on the Nintendo Switch, codenamed Pokemon Stars. No details are currently known about the game, but if Nintendo is planning on an HD version of the game on their upcoming console/portable hybrid, count me in.
