Nintendo Power officially says goodbye

Last month, Nintendo confirmed that the December issue of Nintendo Power would be the magazine's last — after 24 years of publication.

Many gamers grew up with the magazine and fondly recall its memorable covers, detailed walkthroughs, comic strips, and trading cards.

The company recently distributed a thank-you letter (view it in full at GoNintendo) to subscribers, officially saying goodbye to its loyal readers. Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime and Nintendo Power editor-in-chief Chris Slate both contributed to the note.

"It's truly the end of an era," wrote Fils-Aime. "Meanwhile, Nintendo is on the cusp of a new era in gaming" — with the Wii U, of course, which launches on November 18.

"We'll do our best to make the last few issues of Nintendo Power something special for you," wrote Slate.
