Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has passed away

Our regrets and condolences go out to the friends and family of Satoru Iwata and the Nintendo family as a whole. Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 from a bile duct growth, something he had previously undergone surgery before.

Mr. Iwata, who was forced to skip E3 last year due to health reasons, looked to have lost a significant amount of weight, appeared somewhat sickly in his latest public appearances, and was rumored to be stepping down in the near future. Still, his death still catches many off guard, especially since he had said he was "progressing well" from his surgery.

Mr. Iwata will be remembered for his many contributions to gaming, and as the face of Nintendo during the height of the Wii/3DS era. He will be missed.
