Nintendo releasing two pixel-style amiibo for Mario’s 30th anniversary

Couldn't get enough of Mario's Special Edition amiibo? Good news: Nintendo is adding two more to the ranks.

To commemorate Mario's 30th anniversary, Nintendo announced today plans to release two amiibo as part of a Super Mario Bros. 30th line, making them Mario's fifth and sixth variations.

The Classic Color Mario and Modern Color Mario amiibo join the Super Smash Bros., Super Mario, Gold Mario and Silver Mario figures of the iconic character. The two amiibo will likely release around the same time frame as Super Mario Maker, which now has a confirmed release date of September 11th, 2015. Tapping either of these 30th Anniversary Mario amiibo into the game will provide you with a Mega Mushroom item, similar to the functionality seen in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and Hyrule Warriors.

Check out the packaging for the two pixel-style amiibo below.
