Nintendo reportedly upping Nintendo Switch production next year

It looks like we might be seeing more Nintendo Switch units hitting stores starting next year!

The Wall Street Journal has learned that Nintendo plans on increasing production of the Nintendo Switch in its next fiscal year. People with direct knowledge of the matter said that the Kyoto-based company is working on a plan to make 25 million to 30 million units of the Switch in its next fiscal year, which begins April 2018 and ends on end on March 2019.

The plan is still in its early stages but Nintendo has already informing business partners about it, according to the sources. Nintendo could even aim to produce more, however, that depends on the adoption rate.

If Nintendo manages to produce 25 million to 30 million units by this date, it will have shipped 50 million units by April 2019 (two years after release), which is what the Wii shipped in three years.

Nintendo’s plans to increase productions comes around the same time that Metroid Prime 4 and the Switch Pokemon will be getting more details (and even release dates). There’s a chance that this is a strategic move on Nintendo’s part to make the Switch available as hype grows for these titles.
