In 1989, a little movie called The Wizard, starring Fred Savage, introduced the world to eSports. In the movie, players had to face off against one another in various bite sized challenges in order to decide the winner. The Wizard also served to unveil Super Mario Bros. 3, which was and still is pretty unheard of. A year later, Nintendo made the World Championships a reality.
Nintendo's Reggie Fils-aime announced that the Nintendo World Championships are making a comeback after 25 years during their E3 promotional video, and now we finally know the full details so you can start training.
The Nintendo World Championships 2015 will utilize the Nintendo 3DS version of Ultimate NES Remix where players will take on a series of three score-based challenges in Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Dr. Mario.
This preliminary event will take place on May 30th across these eight Best Buy locations. Only the first 750 people in line will be able to get a wristband and participate in each location. The event will start at 10am and run until 7pm local time.
