It's official: Nintendo's first foray into the mobile market will be centered around Miis. The friendly avatars, which debuted with the Nintendo Wii, will make history as the focal point for the new venture, Nintendo confirmed during an investors meeting.
Miitomo — the first of five upcoming smartphone titles — will be of the free-to-play model (or "free-to-start" as Nintendo likes to call it), with successive entries being free-to-download. The initiative is a partnership between Nintendo and DeNA, with the latter overseeing the games' operation. Unfortunately, while it was previously thought that the title would materialize in 2015, Nintendo confirmed during the presentation that Miitomo won't be ready until March 2016, while development on the set of five will take until March 2017 to complete.
So now that we know the subject for the smartphone title, were your predictions correct? More importantly, how will Mario take the news?
