If you're looking forward to playing old Nintendo titles on your still relatively new Wii U console, you're in luck. There are new Game Boy Advance releases headed to the Virtual Console. Metroid Fusion, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Advance Wars are all available for $8.
While the Mario & Luigi franchise has been running well for Nintendo, we haven't seena 2D Metroid release since 2004's Metroid: Zero Mission. It's also the first release the series has seen (re-release or otherwise) since 2010's Metroid: Other M.
As for Advance Wars, the turn-based strategy franchise has been dormant since 2008's Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.
While this may fall into the "looking too much into it" category, I really, really hope that these Virtual Console releases re-ignite interest in both 2D Metroid and Advance Wars. I'll be careful to not get my hopes up, though.
