Despite reports circulating through the internet, saying the Nintendo Switch's left Joy-Con suffering connection issues was a widespread issue, Nintendo denied it. Recently, Nintendo released a statement on the left Joy-Con syncing issues, saying that they are not a design flaw, but a "manufacturing variation".
In the statement, Nintendo went on to say that if a Switch owner is experiencing an issue with the left Joy-Con, they can send it in to be fixed. This fix has Nintendo placing a piece of what is thought to be conductive foam on the Joy-Con's antenna that amplifies the Bluetooth signal.
This is what Nintendo of America told Kotaku:
There is no design issue with the Joy-Con controllers, and no widespread proactive repair or replacement effort is underway. A manufacturing variation has resulted in wireless interference with a small number of the left Joy-Con. Moving forward this will not be an issue, as the manufacturing variation has been addressed and corrected at the factory level.
We have determined a simple fix can be made to any affected Joy-Con to improve connectivity.
There are other reasons consumers may be experiencing wireless interference. We are asking consumers to contact our customer support team so we can help them determine if a repair is necessary. If it is, consumers can send their controller directly to Nintendo for the adjustment, free of charge, with an anticipated quick return of less than a week. Repair timing may vary by region. It should be noted that the additional Joy-Cons that can be purchased separately from the Switch do not have this syncing issue and feature different identification numbers inside. This could mean they are different versions of the Joy-Con.
Either way, you can send your Joy-Con in and get it fixed by Nintendo.
