One of the better surprises of The Game Awards 2014, was when Reggie took the stage and stated that he finally has some more news to share on The Legend of Zelda that's being developed for the Wii U.
The video wasn't a direct feed of the gameplay, which is a shame, but instead, Miyamoto and Aonuma discussed various gameplay elements that will be present in the new game.
For one, the game will have a large open world that players will be able to freely explore. He opened up his map and marked a tower with a beacon, which then shows up on the Wii U Gamepad. He then proceeded to jump off the high ledge and whip out his sail so he could glide down to safety.
We also saw some Epona gameplay, which looks absolutely magnificent. Just the horse animation alone was impressive. Link will be able to traverse the environment without needing to worry about crashing into the environment, like trees, freeing up the player's attention and giving them the ability to use a sword or a bow while on horseback. Link also has a pretty amazing move that allows him to jump off Epona, time slows down to a crawl, and is then able to carefully aim his bow at an enemy. It all looks really spectacular.

Miyamoto asked whether a huge game like this would even be ready next year, to which Aonuma stated that it will definitely be coming out in 2015.
