Nintendo shows off Mario Kart 8’s upcoming DLC

During yesterday's Nintendo Direct broadcast, company president Satoru Iwata gave fans a look at Mario Kart 8's upcoming DLC.

Two trailers for the DLC were shown off — one for the new Animal Crossing course coming with the paid DLC Pack 2, and another for the new amiibo racing suits which will be avialable through a free software update.

Check out both trailers below.

The new Animal Crossing course is not only filled with all the cutesy little animals from the franchise, but also switches season each time you race.

Of course, this is just one new piece of content coming in the paid DLC Pack 2. The DLC will also come with three new racers (Isabelle, Villager, and Dry Bowser), four new vehicles (City Tripper and Streetle, plus two more to be revealed), and eight courses spread across the Crossing Cup and Bell Cup.

Nintendo also showed off the new amiibo racing suits that will become available as part of a free downloadable software update. On April 23, Mario Kart 8 will add support for nine more amiibo figures: Mega Man, Toad, Sonic, Bowser, Pikmin & Olimar, Rosalina & Luma, Villager, Wario, and Pac-Man.

In addition to the new amiibo skins, the free update will also add, for the first time in the Mario Kart series, a new 200cc racing class difficulty.
