Nintendo Switch becomes fastest-selling home video game system in U.S. history

An announcement like this should bring in more third-party support.

The Nintendo Switch has seen plenty of success since its release in March 2017. We are closing in at one year since launch and after 10 months of being on the market, the Switch has sold more than 4.8 million units in the United States.

According to Nintendo’s internal sales figures, the Nintendo Switch is at 4.8 million sales in the U.S.. This is the highest total of sales that any home video game console has seen in its first 10 months, making the Switch the fastest-selling video game system of all time in the US!

The Switch has seen first-party game support, as well as third-party support from top publishers/developers like Ubisoft, Bethesda and Square Enix. Other publishers, like EA, have decided to ‘wait and see’ how the Switch does. With an announcement like this, the Switch will likely be seeing more third-party support.

In November 2017, it was reported that Nintendo intends on upping Switch production this year which should help them hit their goal of selling 20 million Nintendo Switch units by April 2019.

An increase in production and the upcoming releases of Bayonetta 3, Pokemon, Yoshi, Kirby, and Metroid Prime 4 should bring even bigger sales numbers for the Switch.
