Nintendo Switch release for ‘Call of Duty: WWII’ speculation grows with site update

Towards the beginning of May, the developer behind the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Modern Warfare Remastered, Beenox, posted an image that drew quite a bit of attention from the Nintendo community.

The image itself didn't disclose much, it was simply the developers (one wearing a Call of Duty: WWII shirt) standing with members of the Canadian Army. Nothing necessarily pointed towards Nintendo in the image, however, it didn't stop Nintendo Switch owners from hoping that the image meant Call of Duty: WWII would be getting a Switch port.

The speculation could have been swept under the rug, had the Call of Duty website not resurrected the rumor over the weekend. For some reason, the site suddenly allowed users to link their Call of Duty account to their Nintendo account.

As noted by PVPLive, this feature has not been available since the release of Black Ops 3 in 2015. VG24/7 captured an image of the Nintendo account link before the Call of Duty site updated and removed the feature:

I did a little digging on the site since the feature has been removed and it should be noted that while the feature is visually gone from the site, it still lives on in the code:

The code is also home to a logo of Nintendo's service, which nestled between Xbox and Steam's logos.

Of course, this could all be entirely too old of code to go by.

¯_(ツ)_/¯
