After what seems like a successful launch of the Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild receiving perfect scores from many outlets, Nintendo has finally revealed their sales numbers on both products, and they look good.
They've revealed that the Switch sold 906,000 in its 28 days of sale in North America alone, according to the NPD Group. Breath of the Wild sold 1.3 million copies across Switch and Wii U in that same timeframe. Broken down, it was 925,000 for Switch, and 460,000 on Wii U. Surprisingly enough, that means more copies of Breath of the Wild for Switch than Switches themselves… most likely due to availability. It should be noted that this level of attach rate has never been achieved by another console.
According to Nintendo, these numbers make the Switch one of the fastest-selling video game systems of all time. Internally, Nintendo had previously sold 400,000 consoles during its first week of sale in 2012 while the Wii sold 600,000.
In second place, the PlayStation 4 outsold the Xbox One in March, making it the fifth month in a row. Microsoft has, however, noted emphasis on Holiday 2017 with Project Scorpio and a number of exclusive titles.
