Nintendo and Xbox fire shots at Sony with new crossplay video

The question of being able to play games with players across platforms has become more and more relevant in the last year with Sony being stubborn and not wanting to allow it. On the flipside, Xbox and Nintendo fully embrace it and seem to be annoyed at Sony’s lack of interest.

Following the Minecraft debate last summer and now the Fortnite dilemma which prevents anyone who has ever linked their Epic Games account with their PlayStation from bringing their items and stats to Nintendo Switch, Xbox and Nintendo have made a little message for Sony.

The issue which infuriated players for its lack of inclusiveness and blocking of a feature that is prevalent on every other platform sent fans into a frenzy on social media, Xbox and Nintendo’s new Better Together video seems to add fuel to that fire. In the video below, you’ll see a brief trailer for Minecraft on Nintendo Switch which boasts the ability to play with friends on Xbox and PC.

On top of that, Minecraft on Nintendo Switch just got an update today that allows you to unlock Xbox achievements on Nintendo Switch. The game comes with its own list separate from the Windows or Xbox version on your profile but features all of the same achievements as those. This could potentially pave the way for future games to incorporate this feature in the future but it may just be exclusively for Minecraft since it’s owned by Xbox.

Will the message get through to Sony? Who knows! They allow players to crossplay with PC on select games but have an unwillingness to partner with Nintendo Switch and Xbox, which is ultimately a fair business move but maybe a non-consumer friendly one as well. As people get more and more upset, maybe Sony will change their mind but given this debacle has been ongoing for at least a year may be more than telling.
