No co-op campaign for DOOM.

At this week’s QuakeCon, Marty Stratton confirmed to PCGamer that there will not be co-op in the campaign for their new DOOM game. While not being able to have friends drop in is unwelcome news for fans, DOOM’s SnapMap modding feature continues to look like the brightest star in a galaxy crowded by hell beasts.

The utility allows for user generated maps to be created and will, in fact, allow for co-op experiences. Though it isn’t a perfect solution, the ability to design maps and create challenges for yourself and friends is pretty nifty. Stratton explained, “You create a level experience, and then to create a campaign-type thing you would link those [levels] together in, like, a playlist."

DOOM is set for release in spring of 2016.
