***Warning, the following could contain spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as it addresses the rumors that Disney Infinity 3.0 possibly spoiled a potential major Episode VIII reveal.***
There's still tons of questions following the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but there's perhaps no greater mystery than Rey's true identity. Is she Luke Skywalkers daughter? Kylo Ren's (Ben Solo) sister (aka Han and Leia's daugher?) Or just some random orphan scavenger?
Well, there was a brief disturbance in the force this week when it was mistakenly revealed that Rey is Luke Skywalker's daughter, and cousin of Kylo Ren. Don't worry, she's not — at least not that we know of.
The mistake stemmed from internet personality Angry Joe who uploaded a clip of one of Disney Infinity The Force Awakens' final battles — it's Rey versus Kylo Ren who appears to at one point say, "Face me, Cousin!" That would confirm Rey is the daughter of Luke Skywalker. Check out the clip below (via Frank Furtado).
But again, this was a mistake. Angry Joe later realized what Kylo Ren is actually saying is "Face me!," which is quickly interrupted by "Curses!" when he takes damage.
This was later confirmed by Pablo Hidalgo, Lucasfilm Story Group's creative executive.
There you have it. Rey's identity is still a mystery. Hopefully it remains that way until Episode VIII releases in 2017.
