With the Jurassic Park spin-off Jurassic World getting its own trilogy and the second movie getting a huge budget, you'd think that actors from the original trilogy would be making cameos in the upcoming one. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case.
While Jurassic World 2 could attempt to entice Jeff Goldblum to make a comeback as Ian Malcom if they offer enough money, Sam Neill won't be coming back as Dr. Alan Grant. According to Neill, Grant is tired of dinosaurs.
“I think the problem is that no one knows where Alan Grant is anymore. He’s retired from paleontology. He’s sick to death of dinosaurs and running. He’s not quite as fleet of foot as he was, and he’s now retired to Dayton, Ohio, and has a very successful accountancy business. I think that’s what’s happened to Alan. Either that or he’s dead.”
It's doubtful that Dr. Grant gave up his love for dinosaurs and started an accountancy business, this is a man that walked around with a raptor claw in his pocket that we're talking about! Of course, Neill's description sounds like the perfect backstory for Dr. Grant… you know, for him to show up in Jurassic World as the disgruntled specialist that has seen too much.
Then again, after dealing with dinosaurs running rampant… you might move on.
