No DRM for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Wilder 3: Wild Hunt will have no form of digital rights management, CD Projekt RED confirmed today. While the studio previously spoke of DMR back in April, and how Witcher 3 wouldn't have it, Projekt RED co-founder Marcin Iwinski thought it important enough to formally announce it on the blog.

"I’d like to say it loud and clear: The PC version of The Witcher 3 will have absolutely no DRM from day 0," Iwinski said, adding, "Zero. Zip. Nada.

"It doesn’t matter if you choose to buy it on GOG.com and support us directly or buy the game in box format, you’ll still get the 100% DRM-free experience. And this goes for the whole world."

While the developer has dabbled in DRM before, it appears Projekt RED has learned it's listened. "We've fiddled with DRM in the past (Oh boy! How young and naïve we were;)) and that's enough."

Iwinski reassured that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will still be available on Steam which comes with its own set of restrictions, "but where CDPR does have control — like GOG.com — there will be absolutely no DRM."
