When No Man's Sky first released on PC around 212,613 players logged in to explore the world. Unfortunately, the PC version was met with a number of gameplay issues and offered what some deemed an underwhelming experience.
Whether it was unmet expectations, broken promises or due to the issues, many PC players refunded the No Man's Sky within 24 hours of purchasing it. Using SteamSpy and SteamDB numbers, it appears as though the amount of PC players for No Man's Sky has dropped by 89%.
In No Man's Sky's short life on PC, it has seen a peak of 212,613 players, but that peak amount from the game's release on August 12th has not been met again. The game lost half of its player base after three days of release and the numbers have continued to drop. In fact, within the last 24 hours, the peak was only 22,935.
