No Man's Sky is one of those games that simply can't rely on a story trailer to convey the game, especially since there is no story to speak of. What the game does best is showcase its vastly varied flora and fauna to its audience, as we "ooh" and "ahh" at the technical marvel done by such a small team.
I realize that The Game Awards isn't the best place for a guided walkthrough of what's going on, but I'm at the point where I really want to see some guided gameplay through a planet or two. Show me the game in action!
However, what we did see in this brief trailer was another spectacular looking world, some space flight and then a mysterious portal at the very end that seemed to take the player to a completely new planet. This form of travel was talked about in the latest Game Informer magazine. Players will be able to explore far away planets through this portal, harvest some precious new materials, and then make their way back to the original planet, since their ship doesn't teleport with them.
EIther way, I'm still super pumped about this game, and it's easily my most anticipated game of next year, I just can't wait to see more.
It's a good thing then that the PlayStation Experience is starting today, and No Man's Sky will be on site.
