No Man’s Sky won’t be delayed, says Hello Games

Hello Games' flooded office won't cause the small indie studio to delay No Man's Sky. "We won't let that happen!" The studio wrote in a lengthy post updating fans on the status of their office and the highly anticipated game.

"We lost all our PCs, laptops, equipment, furniture, dev-kits, work in the blink of an eye, and our insurer (and those of those around us) seem like we won’t be covered, or at least responsibility is unclear," Hello Games' studio managing director Sean Murray said. Though he didn't place an exact value on what was lost, he figures it "would probably fund a small game."

Murray addressed the idea of doing a Kickstarter for the game, but doesn't think it's the "right thing" for No Man's Sky. Instead, he'd rather you buy Joe Danger games because not only does that support the studio, but because they are good games.

Despite the setback, Hello Games appears to be remaining upbeat about the situation. As Murray explained, they have a new temporary location with some of the older staff working from home.

"Maybe Christmas was a bad time for this to happen, but New Year’s couldn’t be better for a fresh start," Murray concluded. "I couldn’t be more excited for 2014."
