No Man’s Sky gets biggest update to date with Beyond this month

Hello Games has announced the release date for their newest, much-touted free content update. Titled Beyond, this free update will become available to every owner of the game and adds some significant new features and enhancements to what’s already one of the best co-op survival games on the market.

Earlier this year, developer Hello Games unveiled the future for their galaxy-spanning survival game No Man’s Sky. After a commendable and very rare comeback for their game with a massive post-launch campaign NEXT, BEYOND is the natural progression of the studio’s amicable ideology of expanding and improving their game.

Meanwhile VR support will bring the entire game experience to life in virtual reality. Grab the joystick and thruster to fly your starship over an unexplored alien planet as you peer out of the cockpit at the view below. Reach into your backpack to grab your multitool, touch it to switch to terrain manipulation, and carve out intricate shapes with unprecedented control. Play in multiplayer and casually wave to your non-VR friends or fist bump your VR peers. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update will soon be ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience.

There’s no doubt, the main highlight of the Beyond update is the addition of Virtual Reality on PC and PS4. It’s like a match made in heaven to increase immersion to a level never seen before. Whether you’re on foot, in one of the several vehicles or drifting through space and sky on your space ship, VR is going to add a whole new layer to the immersive sim.

The other big pillar of Beyond is a radically overworked online component which aims to improve the multiplayer aspect of No Man’s Sky in a meaningful way. Similar to NEXT, BEYOND is also an ongoing effort which contains three major updates. But even after that, the developer pledges to further work on the game.
