No Man’s Sky: Next Generation free upgrade is a game-changer

The unending space exploration of No Man’s Sky will continue on next-gen in grand style. Developer Hello Games shared the massive free upgrade for existing owners today. All new features also come to the PC. Watch the next-gen trailer here!

One of the most infamous yet best indie games of the current generation is ready for the dawn of new hardware. The aptly named ‘Next Generation’ update for No Man’s Sky will come out on the launch date for each next-gen console. Meaning, November 10th for Xbox Series X|S and November 12th for PlayStation 5.

As expected, visuals are the prime aspect with the update. Both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will get 4K resolutions and 60fps. A massive upgrade over current-gen. The Xbox Series S will get two modes where users can choose between a resolution mode or framerate mode. So, it’s either 1440p or 60fps on Microsoft’s entry system.

Apart from these, No Man’s Sky on next-gen also promises vastly improved load time that are 5-10x faster. That’s an actual leap which will affect gameplay more than anything else. But of course, the usual suspects are also here. Improved shadows, more foliage, higher level of details, and just generally a vastly superior presentation on all fronts.

PlayStation 5 users get some extra features as well. Owners of a PSVR headset can continue playing No Man’s Sky in VR on Sony’s new system. Hello Games further utilizes the new Haptic Feedback feature of the new DualSense controller.

Furthermore, all next-gen platforms receive 32 player multiplayer support. Add in that cross-play and cross-gen support, and you have a recipe for even better online gameplay than ever.

Last but not least, No Man’s Sky also gets a huge boost in the building department. Now, users will be able to construct much larger bases and let their creative juices flow to its fullest. With the option to transer existing save files, your previous time investment doesn’t get left behind either.
