Earlier this week, EA Brazil released a video detailing an upcoming free update to Star Wars Battlefront that would bring a new map, new costumes for Luke and Leia (based off of The Force Awakens), Daily Challenges, private matches and community events. The video was quickly removed from the internet once the Battlefront community noticed it.
DICE's Lighting Lead on Battlefront, Oscar Carlén, has stepped forward to offer new insight on the video that was removed and the apparent update coming to Battlefront.
According to Carlén, the update will not contain a new map – because DICE is still working on it. "Sorry, but the January update does not contain a new map," wrote Carlén. "I am still polishing the new maps."
It turns out that the EA Brazil video detailing the upcoming patch was inaccurate, which resulted in the video being removed. "There were some misinformation so it was taken down," explained Carlén. "It is still a great patch, I don't think you will be disappointed."
On the plus side, the maps the Carlén is working on will be available for both upcoming paid DLC and a free content update. It appears as though Carlén is clarifying the upcoming patch because he doesn't want fans to feel upset when the official details for the patch are announced., "Its heartbreaking to see fans setting themselves up to be disappointed when we work so hard to make you happy."
