No Season Pass for Titanfall

Update: Respawn Entertainment has clarified that there will be no "ONLINE" pass for Titanfall. A Season Pass is still unconfirmed, but it's looking likely. Read more here.

Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Titanfall will not have a Season Pass associated with it. The announcement follows confirmation that the highly anticipated online shooter will also not feature microtransactions. The omissions are somewhat of an oddity considering the publisher and scope of the game.

It's rare for a first-person shooter these days to not offer some sort of DLC. Battlefield (also published by EA) and Call of Duty are two premiere first-person shooter franchises that offer players additional content in the form of DLC. Though you can purchase each add-on individually, both franchises push players towards purchasing a Season Pass that includes all additional content usually at a discount. I find it highly unlikely that Titanfall — a game with only online multiplayer — won't offer players some sort of additional multiplayer content in the future, be it new weapons or maps, so the lack of a Season Pass is somewhat disconcerting.

Titanfall is due out for Xbox One and PC on March 11 in the United States. It's also coming to Xbox 360 on March 25.
