No Samus in Dead or Alive: Dimensions

A trailer for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS fighter Dead or Alive: Dimensions surfaced last week and briefly showcased one of the most popular bounty hunters in any video game. Samus Aran appeared in Morph Ball form for a brief moment toward the end of the trailer in order to fend off Ridley in the Metroid-themed stage. This quickly prompted gamers to speculate that Samus would make an appearance in the game, much like Link did in Soulcalibur II for the GameCube.

Unfortunately, Samus’ appearance in the trailer was nothing more than a preview of what the stage has in store for gamers. The female bounty hunter will be in the game, but mainly as part of the Metroid level and will not be included as a playable character. “So talking about Samus Aran,” said Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi. “Is she playable or not? This time she’s not playable.” Here’s hoping that means Samus will be a playable character if another Dead or Aliive game arrives on the 3DS somewhere down the line.
