North America isn’t the only country facing an Amiibo shortage, Japan is too

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata recently stated that the reason North America was having a tough time getting Amiibos because of a strike at the cargo ports. It has been speculated that there are other reasons for the shortage, but no confirmations have been given from Nintendo.

North America can stop feeling bad about not having any Amiibos. Why? Because Japan is running out of Amiibos too. It looks like Europe is the only place where Amiibos gather freely.

Nintendo has released a statement on the Nintendo Japan site on restocking 'scarce' Amiibos in Japan like: Villager, Little Mac, and Captain Falcon. These are only some of the Amiibos that would be nice to see in North America. What's the reason behind the shortage? The amount of details required in the production of figurines — they're too labor intensive to make so it takes months of production before they are shipped out.

Interesting. Let me put my tinfoil hat on for a second.

What if…The shortage in North America is due to the issues in production and not necessarily the port strike? What if Nintendo signed with a bad production company and those plastic mass produced with some (limited) physical labor. It has been suggested that the figures are hand painted, but let's be honest — if they were hand painted Amiibos Samus wouldn't have accidently had two cannons ("I've painted 4,000 of these, this isn't right…").

Are Amiibos are a victim of the Nintendo's bad choice in business partner?

I'm not sure if port strikes are entirely to blame anymore, especially if Japan is facing the same issues that North America is.
