Money cannot buy everything, not even Uncharted 4: A Thief's End releasing at its original launch date. In early March we caught wind that Sony had every intention of releasing Uncharted 4 in 2015, but Naughty Dog needed more time to make to the best of their ability.
"We’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title," said Naughty Dogs creative director Neil Druckmann.
In an interview with Sony president, Shuhei Yoshida, Edge Magazine revealed that nothing could have brought the game sooner and that Sony had trusted Naughty Dog's decision to push the game back in order to make it better.
"We wish it was that simple. As far as we are concerned, the game cannot be made in time with more money. When an experienced team like Naughty Dog say they need more time, we believe them. And we support them".
Sony's support of the pushback means that instead of getting a game that is subpar and obviously in need of optimization, we are getting a game that will be the best representation of Naughty Dog's ability.
While we wait for Uncharted 4 to release in 2016, we have the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection that bundles the first three games of the trilogy together and gives you access to the Uncharted 4 demo.
