Nvidia’s GTX 1080 will rock your virtual world

If you're a modern PC gamer, then you know that graphics cards are essential to your gaming experience. The better the graphics card the better your shiny new game will look and run on your PC. And if it runs at sub 60 FPS then you're probably in the market to buy a new one. If you are strapped for cash you will probably go for an AMD product, but this time around might be different.

Nvidia recently unveiled it's latest piece of hardware for your PC and you wallet won't be aching (as much as usual) after this one. The new Nvidia GTX 1080 out performs their GTX 980 by leaps and bounds. And the price point for the new card is reported to be only $599, so if you were saving up to get yourself a new Graphics card already you might want to hold off on your purchase for a bit.

If $599 is still out of your price range then why not pick up the GTX 1070 which will launch just a bit later than the 1080, but will boast a price of a whopping $379. If you were planning on buying a graphics card now is the time to hold off. You will either be able to get a brand new card that is much better than the one you could buy now, or you would be able to get a different card for a much cheaper price point when the new ones launch.

How much better is the 1080 compared to the GTX 980? According to one site the benchmarks for Ashes of the Singularity , one GTX 1080 can do the work of two GTX 980s in SLI. If you're looking for an AMD equivalent the 1080 performs about as well as the AMD's Radeon Pro Duo, which has a price point of a mere $1,500.

Regardless of what you buy, however, all of these cards are VR ready. So, if and when you are eventually able to buy yourself that new VR headset you will be ready to go and if you buy the GTX 1080 or 1070 you might have a little extra money in your pocket.
