Nvidia shares early glimpse at new RTX 3000 GPUs in new video

PC tech giant Nvidia has shared an informative new video that details the company’s challenges designing the next generation of PC graphic cards. In the video, we also see and learn interesting new details about the upcoming RTX 3000 cards. Watch the video here!

The major talk among gamers this year might be without a doubt the launch of next-gen consoles by Sony and Microsoft. That doesn’t however mean that the PC crowd has nothing to look forward to. Quite the opposite, as Nvidia is at the cusp of unveiling their new GPUs very soon.

Next week, September 1st, Nvidia will hold a special event where the hardware company will reveal the long-awaited new RTX 3000 series graphics cards. Compared to consoles, the most recent hardware update is fairly new with the 2018’s introduction of the RTX 2080. But in the PC realm, two years is an eternity. Especially if one considers the massive changes gaming tech is experiencing.

While the RTX 2000 series brought real-time ray-tracing to the masses for the first time ever, the truth is that not many games supported the technology and those who did only featured certain effects like reflections or shadows to be ray-traced. Such is the fate of every early technology.

But with the PS5 & Xbox Series X both marketing hardware ray tracing support heavily, it’s only a matter of short time before ray-tracing becomes a standard. That’s where the RTX 3000 series comes in. Not only is it poised to feature improved ray-tracing capabilities but it is expected to be the first real answer and competitor to the next-gen consoles.

Today’s new video shows a few short looks at what the new cards will look like alongside plenty of details about the design goals. For example, the RTX 3000 cards – at least the top-tier models – will use 12-pin connectors for power delivery for the first time.
