Nvidia unveils RTX 3000 series, Stuns with crazy good value

PC retains its throne of best performance

Graphics card manufacturer Nvidia has unveiled their brand-new RTX 3000 series of GPUs. With outstanding performance and innovative new features, these state-of-the-art cards are already overshadowing the next-gen consoles. And the best, they’re surprisingly affordable.

Next-gen is upon us, but this goes beyond just Sony’s and Microsoft’s upcoming home consoles. The PC market is also preparing for a new jump. Nvidia, the undisputed king of GPUs on the PC market have officially revealed their RTX 3000 series. At the moment, the 3070, 3080, and 3090 have been shown.

And what cards they are. Unlike previous GPU generation leaps, this one promises a jump in performance that is unheard of. Nvidia is stating that their new cards offer 70%-100% more performance compared to their previous counterparts. Those are insane figures if one considers that the usual generational improvements are at around 25%-30%.

What this means for PC users is that the RTX 3070 gives better performance than the mighty RTX 2080Ti. At less than half the price! With the RTX 2080Ti going for $1,199, the RTX 3070 sounds almost too good to be true. Nvidia’s pricing for the three new Ampere cards are as following:

  • RTX 3090 – $1,499
  • RTX 3080 –    $699
  • RTX 3070 –    $499

There’s no question, the RTX 3000 series looks to become a slam dunk for Nvidia and the perfect choice for PC gamers who want to play next-gen titles without compromise. The RTX 3080 will be available starting September 17th, with the enthusiast RTX 3090 following a week later. The value king RT 3070 is slated to launch in October.

The performance metrics of these new cards are already way above what the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have on offer but with the GPU alone costing about as much or more alone, that’s to be expected. It’s going to be interesting whether AMD’s long-awaited Big Navi GPUs will be competitive with the RTX 3000 line-up.
