***Update***
October's free PS Plus games have been announced. Check out what's coming to PS4, PS3 and Vita here.

With Microsoft having already announced October's Games with Gold titles for Xbox One and Xbox 360, PlayStation gamers are waiting with baited breath for Sony to announced its own lineup of free games for PS4, PS3, and Vita. Well, if all goes to plan, that announcement could be coming tomorrow.
As explained by PlayStation Europe community manager Fred Dutton last week, October's batch of PS Plus games will go live on October 8th (in Europe), with an announcement "on or around October 1st." Dutton didn't give an explanation for the reasoning behind the date selection, but I figure it has something to do with the first Tuesday (when the North American PS Store gets updated) of October falling on October 7.
Sony hasn't given any update on the status of October's PS Plus games, but assuming everything is as planned, then we could expect an announcement tomorrow with the free games going live on October 7 in North America and October 8 in Europe.
One of the games already confirmed for the month is the PS Plus Edition of Driveclub, Evolution Studios' upcoming PS4 racing title. This free version of the game is slightly watered down from the retail version, but PS Plus members can upgrade for just $49.99.
