Oculus Rift VR headset could come to Xbox One or PS4

There are plenty of virtual reality (VR) headset options on their way. There's Valve and HTC's Vive headset, Sony's Project Morpheus, Microsoft's augmented reality (AR) headset HoloLens, and the Oculus Rift. We have been hearing about the Rift VR headset for a while now, but with it releasing in early 2016 the dream is becoming more of a (virtual) reality.

The Rift is a PC-based device, but what is stoping it from hitting other platforms, like the Xbox One or PlayStation 4? Oculus VR’s Vice President of Product Nate Mitchell is saying that "anything is possible."

Nothing has been set in stone, but during during the Disrupt Event in New York, Mitchell revealed that they will be exploring the possibility of partnerships with consoles:

“We have, we’ve talked to everyone. You know there’s a lot of people right now interested in the VR space and we’ve said many times that we’re really interested in bringing the Rift to as many consoles or platforms as possible. Ultimately, we haven’t announced any sort of partnerships to date, but it’s something we’re always exploring.”

It doesn't seem likely that Sony would enter a partnership with Oculus, as they are creating their own VR headset and the Rift would be running in direct competition.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is creating an AR headset and the Rift is straight VR, so there could be an opening for a partnership there.
