Oculus announced yesterday that they are delaying the launch of their Touch controls for the Oculus Rift to late 2016. Initially scheduled for launch alongside the headset, they will now come in the second half of the year.
The VR development team stated that it was to improve various features of the Touch such as hand pose recognition as well as making them feel more ergonomic for the user. According to the team,
On the path to perfecting Touch, we’ve decided that we need more time before release, and we’ll now be shipping Touch in the second half of 2016. Pre-orders will open a few months prior to launch. Rift remains on schedule to ship in Q1 with pre-orders launching very soon.
Oculus promises a "huge amount of content" to be supported by the Touch control and will have more information come September. At least the main Oculus headset will still be releasing in Q1 as promised, but the developer still has not issued a MSRP on the product as of yet. Hopefully, we'll hear more soon.
