Oddworld Inhabitants is confident that its upcoming remake of 1998's Abe's Oddysee will sell well. It's only going to charge $30 a pop for the platformer, dubbed Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty!.
"This game will play better, look better, and you'll have more fun with for more hours of play than games you're paying $60 for," series creator Lorne Lanning told Eurogamer. "That's a promise. And I can say that with absolute confidence."
The publisher and developer Just Add Water only need to sell 250,000 copies to fund its next project, a remake of the original game's sequel, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus.
Lanning said the digital rereleases of both the classic Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus sold over a million copies combined. The series as a whole has pushed 2 million in digital releases — 7 million in sales overall.
"If this had a publisher, the price would be higher, and they'd be calling in triple A."
