"Unprecedented" demand for Star Wars: The Force Awakens tickets has resulted in the crashing of both ODEON and Picturehouse's websites.
The highly anticipated return of the Sci-Fi movie has been met with huge popularity, with the film set to hit the big screen this December
Advance tickets went on sale today and seemingly caused all sorts of problems for website servers, especially at ODEON. Many customers have taken to social media to echo their frustrations when trying to buy tickets, but the cinema company maintains that service has resumed as normal.
In an attempt to play down the server issues, an ODEON spokesman said: "We're seeing massive traffic to our website this morning as guests book ahead for Spectre and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
"We knew this morning would be very busy and did as much as we could to prepare. Thousands of guests have already successfully bought their tickets.
"There have been some booking delays in the initial peak, but our website is now returning to normal speed."
However, there was a company that was prepared for the large influx in website traffic, British cinema company Vue.
Vue's customers continue to "purchase online with ease," having sold over 10,000 tickets in just 90 minutes today, according to a company spokesman.
