After an initial teaser, Atlus and Vanillaware today confirmed that Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir will release physically and digitally in North America on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in 2016.
An exact date has not yet been given, but Atlus’ localization history suggests the NA version won’t be far behind Leifthrasir’s Japanese launch on January 14, 2016. A European version remains a possibility but has not yet been detailed.
Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir (Romanized from the misnomer Leifdrasir, Atlus clarified in a statement) improves upon the 2007 PS2 classic both visually and mechanically. In addition to fully voiced story scenes, revamped RPG and combat systems serve to distinguish the remake.
Additional enemies and areas will also be included. The game’s core storyline, told from the perspectives of five characters, will remain intact. But despite its striking resemblance to Vanillaware's Dragon's Crown, Leifthrasir will be a single player-only game.
