To the surprise of no one, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was the best-selling game in November 2015.
Surprisingly, however, Black Ops 3 sold best on Xbox One, despite Activision and Sony's new partnership which sees future Call of Duty content arrive first on PlayStation. Earlier this year at E3, Sony proudly boasted PlayStation as the new home of Call of Duty, and although Black Ops 3 was the PlayStation Store's top-seller for November 2015, the new partnership doesn't appear to be having any impact on the franchise's success on Xbox.
As reflected in NPD Group's list November's best-selling titles, you can see Xbox One was the preferred platform for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Overall, though, things weren't too bright for new physical software sales as NPD Group noted a 7 percent decrease thanks largely to a 66 percent drop in portal software sales and only a modest 1 percent growth with console sofware sales. On the bright side, 8th generation software sales (Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U) increased 37 percent, but were largely offset by a 60 percent decrease in spending on 7th-gen software sales.
“November 2015 was the best month for 8th generation consoles (Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U) ever, exceeding the second-best month (December 2014), by 34 percent," NPD Group's Liam Callahan noted.
On a related note, PS4 led November's record-breaking new-gen console sales.
