It's been seven year but it has finally been announced, Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War III has been announced and the trailer gives fans a taste of what will come.
Dawn of War III will take players back into the boots of the Space Marines fighting for galactic supremacy against the Eldar and the Orks, but supremacy and survival come at a heavy cost for all. The three playable factions, or at least for now revealed factions, "slip ever deeper into the darkness of endless war". Players will lead elite units and colossal armies to victory or oblivion.
The announcement trailer is a CGI trailer that doesn't show any gameplay, it is a pure announcement trailer which showcases the creative ideas and the overall tone for the game, which seems to be rather dark.
Relic Entertainment, creators of the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War series, is at it once again . Dawn of War III will combine the large scale of the first game with the customization and elite heroes of Dawn of War II which will give players the "best-in-class edition giving players the rich strategic experience, stunning visuals, and catastrophic surprises that they’ve come to expect as Relic brings the franchise into the modern era."
Stephen MacDonald, the title’s Executive Producer described the game as such:
"This is the Dawn of War that fans have been waiting for. Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it’s all in there. Get ready for the biggest Dawn of War yet. For the Emperor!”
This is also Relic's first games as a SEGA owned studio and Justin Dowdeswell, General Manager at Relic said "This announcement is a big moment for all of us at Relic, and at SEGA,” said . “We’re setting the bar for what we can achieve, and showing players what they can expect from us in the future. This is just the beginning."
No release date has been revealed yet, just knowing that a Dawn of War III is being developed is enough for most fans.
