Earlier today GameZone's Stephanie Carmichael reported that Capcom was remastering Okami for the PlayStation 3 in Japan. At the time of that post, we still weren't sure if the publisher had plans of bringing the title to North America. Thanks to a press release from Capcom, we can now confirm that the beautiful fantasy action-adventure game is indeed coming to our side of the globe.
Okami HD will launch on the PlayStation Network for $19.99. Still no word on the exact date, but it's headed to Japan November 1, so let's hope we don't have to wait too long for the game here.
Capcom announced that it would implement PlayStation Move functionality, which means Okami HD will feature a control scheme similar to that of the Wii version. We can also expect Trophies, though no other additional features have been announced.
Okami is easily one of my favorite PlayStation 2 games, and when I played it back in 2006, I was in awe after seeing its woodblock-inspired art and hearing its authentic Japanese soundtrack. It's going to be great seeing the already awesome visuals amped up in glorious HD.
