Bandai Namco has officially unveiled One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows. The fighting game will be the first video game adaptation of the wildly popular anime series which aired in 2015. Check out the reveal trailer here!
One Punch Man immediately became a hit among anime fans worldwide when its anime adaptation aired in Fall 2015. The combination of hard-hitting fighting scenes and comedic touch won over viewers’ hearts, and most of that was due to the unassuming lazy protagonist Saitama. The bald-headed hero is able to defeat even the most fearsome enemy with just a single hit, hence the title One Punch Man.
One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows will feature three-versus-three battles, where players can form powerful teams using their favorite characters as they fight in a universe where attacks from powerful villains are the norm. Players can take the role of Saitama, a salaryman-turned-hero who can obliterate the strongest foes with a single punch. Players will also be able to play as other fan-favorite characters such as Genos, Hellish Blizzard, Speed-o’-Sound Sonic and Mumen Rider.
Surprisingly – and to the frustration of the series’ fans – no video game adaptation has been attempted so far. A rather unusual occurrence as popular anime regularly get games, such as the Attack on Titan, Dragonball or Naruto franchises. We wouldn’t be surprised if One Punch Man’s signature invulnerability made it tough for it to adapt into a game.
Whatever the reason might have been, it looks like Bandai Namco has figured out a way to do it in the end anyway. One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows aims to offer the same over-the-top fighting action of the anime in playable form, as a 3 vs. 3 fighting game. Players will be able to create teams consisting of series iconic characters and play either solo or against another player.
Bandai Namco hasn’t detailed a release date for the game for now.
