Capcom's Onimusha series is entering a new market. The joint developer and publisher recently announced Onimusha Soul for PC browsers and smartphones.
So far the game, a "Sengoku simulation RPG" that features both co-op and competitive gameplay, is only scheduled for Japan on June 28 and again this fall for the smartphone release. Players step into the role of daimyo, a feudal lord in pre-modern Japan during the Warring States period, using their power to increase their territorial holdings and train military commanders.
The first Onimusha released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. Collectively the various games in the series have sold more than 7.9 million units.
