In June GameStop acquired ThinkGeek's owner, Geeknet, and now the previously online only retailer is getting its first brick and mortar store (see, that's what happens when you get bought out by a mega-company).
On September 25th, ThinkGeek will open its first store in Florida, home of the Florida Man who enjoys attempting to steal PlayStation 4's by shoving them in his pants (and various other acts of deviancy).
The store has been described as ‘modern, bright, open floor plan’ with an array of merchandise for games, films, TV and comics – from brands like Nintendo, Minecraft, Marvel, Game of Thrones and Star Wars. “The opening of our first brick and mortar store is a significant milestone for the brand and a great example of how the GameStop acquisition is a win for our customers,” ThinkGeek president Katy McCarthy said.
“While people know us today as an online retailer, the GameStop connection will bring vastly more visibility to the brand and our ever expanding selection of exclusive products."
Note that she said first, as in, there are more to come.
