Original concept art has been revealed for The Rival from ‘The Flash’ season 3

Concept art has been revealed for The Rival, the newest villain from 'The Flash' season three.

Fans of The CW's The Flash more than likely caught the premiere of season three last week. The episode 'Flashpoint' follows up on the aftermath of Barry Allen's interference with the night his mother was murdered by Reverse Flash. The event caused an alternate reality with an alternate Flash, but with the new hero…came a new villain, known only as "The Rival".

The Rival's suit was pretty reminiscent of the Reverse Flash from the New 52 comics, complete with a lava-esque lightning design. As it turns out, the concept art shows us a more sinister look:

Designers Maya Mani and Andy Poon revealed on Instagram a concept for the dark speedster that wasn't carried over in its entirety. The changes were pretty understandably made in an attempt to avoid the similarities to the final design of Zoom last season.

Is it possible that the suit design might change now that Barry and Eobard Thawne have reverted the timeline (for the most part)? Its possible it could be one of the changes, but we won't know for sure until we really start digging deep into season three.
